It is crucial that the designer of your dream dress offers the style you are looking for. Designers tend to be experts at a specific niche. Browse through their gallery and if you don’t see what you are looking for, send them an inquiry. If you know right away any specific materials, customization, and accessories you want, check that the designer can fulfill those requests.

Before selecting a dress designer, check out their price range and make sure to compare it with your personal budget. Ask the designer what is included in the listed price—will you need to pay an additional fee for alterations, specialty customization, different fabrics or material, or other costs you haven’t considered? Don’t forget about all the extras either—your budget should account for the cost of extra items like your accessories, shoes, veil, and head piece too.  

Find out where your designer is located in relation to you. Ask yourself how this may, or may not, affect the design process. Is it a personal preference for you to meet face-to-face with a designer or are you okay communicating virtually? If the designer is located outside your area, verify with them how they handle parts of the process like fittings and alterations, so there are no surprises later.
